Wild Trout Conference Coming Up

We are well underway preparing for the Talk Wild Trout Conference to be held in Mansfield on Saturday 21 November. The project leaders are finalising their presentations for the conference and we’ve got some really interesting information coming through on how trout respond to temperature changes, the importance of riparian vegetation and the surveys of 12 priority rivers conducted this year.

Acoustic tagging on the Delatite River has revealed some interesting information about trout movement in response to water temperature.

We’ve been in touch with Dr Dan Dauwalter of Trout Unlimited and he is looking forward to presenting at the Conference how anglers and government in the United States are managing their valuable trout and salmon fisheries.

Comparisons with trout surveyed in the past (like this King River beauty) has helped to give recent surveys context.

Nearly 150 fishers have registered to attend so far but there are still seats available. Remember, this one day event is free but you do need to register to attend – simply visit www.mansfieldmtbuller.com.au/twt

Even the littlies surveyed provide valuable information about things like natural recruitment success.

This is shaping up to be a great event for trout fishers; hope to see you there!
