Rainbow Lodge

There is no better place on earth to catch wild brown trout than in Tasmania and Rainbow Lodge is the perfect base. Guided fly fishing trips on Tasmania’s pristine lakes and rivers is our speciality. Whether polaroiding the shallow western lakes, sight casting to mayfly feeders, tailing trout or midging fish, the Rainbow Lodge guides will provide you with an unforgettable and unique experience.

Our guides are all world class with international fishing experience and acclaim while our head guide, Christopher Bassano is in his twentieth season of guided fishing in Tasmania.

Rainbow Lodge Tasmania is at the cutting edge of the latest fly fishing techniques, flies and equipment and is continually helping their development.

Wading lakes, rivers and streams, rafting, boating or exploring, we provide the complete package while priding ourselves on our service, knowledge and enthusiasm.

From an individual to a corporate group, one day to a week, Rainbow Lodge Tasmania will provide the perfect guided fly fishing Tasmania trip.

“Worldwide, a  handful of guides have a knowledge of their fishery – and how to fish it – that truly seems to draw on a sixth sense. Christopher Bassano is one of these few.”
– Philip Weigall, September 2012

Whatever your fishing holiday holds for you, there’s nowhere better to base yourself than Rainbow Lodge – surrounded by sensational trout waters, and centrally placed to access a wealth of other fishing opportunities.

Rainbow Lodge is a comfortable, welcoming, 3-bedroom property enjoying views across the stunning, rugged highland landscape. With two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and a large front lounge leading onto an expansive deck, it’s the perfect base for any guided trip.

And just in case you feel the need to tie up a few spares or even to develop a new fly pattern based on what you’ve observed during the day, the lounge also has a fly tying bench, complete with all the materials you’ll need.

To help you relax after a day on the water, it also features comfortable chairs and full entertainment facilities, including CD and DVD players. The library is full of local and overseas fishing books, magazines and other reading material.

On the water, we provide you with a great fishing platform in the shape of our 5m Quintrex Hornet, as well as all the gear and flies you could need. You can even purchase your fishing licence from us.
