We’ve just released what I humbly rate as my favourite Annual yet. In this issue, totally new content includes a trip to Greenland with Andrew Fuller chasing Arctic char, and suggestions from Nick Taransky on how to decide if trout are actually present – or not. Meanwhile, Steve Dunn describes autumn hopper fishing in the Snowy Mountains, and I relive an unexpectedly brilliant winter’s day.
As usual, we’ve also brought to print our ‘best of’ features for the year. Joshua Hutchins chases Murray cod in north-east Victoria, and Jim Allen gets into the ‘sharks’ on Great Lake. Craig Coltman gives a detailed description of bank fishing options at Lake Wendouree, and I find something to do during the trout closed season by chasing bread & butter saltwater species like bream and salmon.
For the regulars, Peter Hayes has a laugh and cry tale about getting your Tassie expectations right, Andrew Fuller has all the best new gear for 2018/19 and Jim Allen talks jassids. To bookend these contributions, Craig Coltman ties his favourite estuary fly, and I learn some lessons from my young son.
Overall, that should be plenty of reading for the Christmas break!
