April marks the start of Australian Flyfishing Outfitters season each year and already we’ve had some interesting action. With a good wet season across northern Australia, our ‘early season’ barramundi fishing has been great. Meanwhile, a few golden trevally have showed themselves when the weather has let us onto the flats and that fishing is only getting better moving into May.

This time of year also sees the start of our annual western Cape York mothership trips. These are going really well with the west Cape getting back to the standard we remember from days of old.

Perhaps the good wet season has also had an affect here. Our anglers travel from all over southern Australia to join us and the photos show some of the results, as does the short video below. Finally, we have moved to a new lodge this year, located on the water at Port Hinchinbrook. More news on this soon.
