about the latest issue of FlyStream magazine

Our latest issue has just hit the (virtual) shelves. This one begins with Nick Taransky wandering up a typical Australian trout stream and identifying the most likely water – the good bits. Next up, Joshua Hutchins heads in totally different direction, fishing for golden dorado in remote Argentina. Unseasonal rain made this a trip with difference.

Autumn on the Mersey.

As we’re coming up to one of my favourite times of year for stream fishing, I’ve reflected on a couple of autumn trips from 2015 – one to a couple of Snowy Mountains streams, and the other to northern Tasmania. I learnt some new tricks to try this autumn, and reinforced some old one.

Not knowing any better, I assumed sailfish were a long shot species on fly, but after travelling to Malaysia recently, Andrew Fuller would beg to differ. The video accompanying this article is a hoot, don’t miss it!

Sailfish a day away.

Sailfish a day away.

For years, Craig Coltman has been just a little bit put out by the general reluctance of Australian stillwater trout fishers to move their dry flies. His article is part plea to pull dry flies more often; part sound advice on how, where and when to do it – and with what.

Success pulling dry flies.

Success pulling dry flies.

For the regulars, Peter Hayes imagines himself as a miniature fly rider (you have to read this column to understand), Andrew Fuller picks the best of the freshwater reel crop, Jim Allen reminds us why we should value wild trout, Craig Coltman ties his favourite dry fly for pulling (of course) and I contemplate the wildlife-watching benefits of flyfishing.
